"What we have to do is to promote the penetration of artificial intelligence in various industries, and to help improve efficiency and enhance people's feelings in various fields and industries."
Li Yanhong said that today's artificial intelligence is no longer about cool, but about how to advance and land in a down-to-earth manner.
He made three suggestions: First, pay attention to safety and efficiency. Second, I hope to accelerate the construction of infrastructure. Third, make full use of open source and open platforms.
Li Yanhong emphasized that especially in the open source platform, China's development is relatively late in this respect, but its role in the development of artificial intelligence will become more and more important. And open source does not mean that everything is free, it is our own controllable, and many open source things are still in the hands of others. (Snow plum)
The following is a speech by Li Yanhong:
Leaders, distinguished guests, good morning!
I am very happy to come to Chongqing again after a year. I deeply feel that there have been many changes in Chongqing. Chongqing was originally a vibrant city, but this time it feels that the city is a city full of technology and full of futuristic. Especially when walking on the riverside at night, I will see a variety of neon lights coming out about this smart blog. The slogan about intelligence makes me feel that the city is rapidly leading the pace of global intelligence.
Of course, these are still a bit superficial. These days, the Chongqing Municipal Government and major enterprises, including Baidu, Tencent, Ali, Lenovo,MilletIntensively signing, I believe that in the coming year or in the next few years, Chongqing's intelligence will be further accelerated, further leading the development of China and the world.
The change in Chongqing is relatively large. In fact, the artificial intelligence changes in the past year are also relatively large. This change may not be noticed by many people, but when I say it, I believe many people will agree with my observation. In the past year, artificial intelligence has turned from a cool effect that everyone relishes into a social consensus and has become a national strategy. What we need to do is to promote the penetration of artificial intelligence in various industries, and to help improve efficiency and enhance people's feelings in various fields and industries.
Therefore, we have seen that in the past, everyone liked to transmit artificial intelligence and defeated the world Go champion. Today, we pay more attention to what kind of convenience artificial intelligence brings to people's lives, and how much efficiency is improved for people's work. In the past, we might relish that a driverless car ran thousands of kilometers without human intervention on high speed. Today we may be more concerned about how unmanned driving can be truly safe, how can we reduce costs, and how we can run on open roads in low-speed environments.
In the past, we might have sent some robots that look like humans to the stairs. When they fall, they can climb up and even the skin of the robot can be as flexible as human skin. Today we pay more attention to the value of the machine as an assistant. For example, the trend of smart speaker development is not to let it grow up to let it go, but today we see that our screened speakers have shipped more than the no-screen smart speakers, the human body has no screen, Therefore, as a carrier of intelligent assistants, smart speakers are not growing more and more like people, but are more and more able to help people and serve people more and more.
In the past, we relished that the number of published artificial intelligence papers and the number of patent applications in China is the highest in the world, but today we are more to see how much we have the right to speak on the overall development framework of artificial intelligence. Recently, it seems that the "Nature" magazine in the United Kingdom has a long-form report that compares the development of artificial intelligence in China and the United States. Well, it does mention that there are a lot of Chinese papers published, that is, there are a lot of patent applications, but there is still a gap in the framework of deep learning of artificial intelligence. These are the things we need to improve in the future. Therefore, artificial intelligence is no longer about cool, but about how to advance and land in a down-to-earth manner.
So here, I would like to make three suggestions:
The first is to focus on safety and efficiency.
This is actually very obvious in the field of driverless driving. Why do we lower the speed now to ensure safety? Why do we think that the low speed L4 will be implemented before the high speed L3? Because it is also considered from a safety perspective. We also have to consider the cost, the sensor on the auto-driving car, when the cost can be reduced to it is really more economical than the use of people to drive, it is more cost-effective. We also pay attention to all kinds of AI chips. We often see how much the AI chip's computing power is increased by the most powerful computing power, but how much power is it? Can it be produced in batches and produced in batches under cost control? We say that artificial intelligence will wake up everything, so every household appliance must have a voice recognition chip. Can this chip meet our green energy-saving standards? This is what we need to pay attention to.
The second proposal is to accelerate the construction of infrastructure.
In the field of automatic driving, China and the United States actually have considerable competition. The United States places more emphasis on cycling intelligence, so their specifications on road testing or related laws are more flexible. But in China, we have the advantage of infrastructure. We can add a lot of equipment on the road side to improve safety and improve efficiency.
Third, my suggestion is to make full use of open source and open platforms.
Especially for open source platforms, China's development is relatively late in this respect, but its role in the development of artificial intelligence will become more and more important. And open source does not mean that everything is free, it is our own controllable, and many open source things are still in the hands of others, we must have a full understanding.
General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out in 2017: "In the future, all localities should focus on building smart cities and promote technology integration, business integration, and data integration." Baidu will focus on the current project and the future opportunities, together with the Chongqing Municipal Government, and partners from all walks of life to promote the development of industrial intelligent development, promote the formulation of industry rules, promote innovative business models, and promote the landing of AI technology in all aspects of society and people's livelihood. A new world of intelligence.
I am coming to this day, Baidu is more willing to do our best for this day, thank you!
