European smartphone shipments in the second quarter of 2019

Original title: Apple loses ground to Samsung in European smartphone market

Netease Technology News, August 13 news, according to foreign media reports, market research firm Canalys' latest analysis of the smartphone market shows that in the second quarter of this year, Apple's iPhone shipments in Europe decreased by 1.3 million, down 17 %. At the same time, its Android-based competitors Xiaomi and Samsung's shipments have seen considerable growth over the same period.

Canalys' data shows that in the second quarter of 2019, Apple sold 6.4 million iPhones in Europe, down 17% from 7.7 million in the same period in 2018. In terms of the overall market, Apple's shipments still ranked third, but its market share fell to 14.1%, down from 17% last year.

Apple's market share fell in the latest report, similar to the conclusions of another analysis at the end of July. According to the analysis, Apple sold 36.4 million iPhones worldwide in the second quarter, down from 41.3 million in 2018. Overall, shipments in the industry fell 1.2% to 360 million units.

In the case of Canalys, the total shipments of smartphones in Europe in the second quarter were 45.1 million, a decrease of only about 100,000 from the 45.2 million in the previous quarter, indicating that the market is relatively stable relative to the rest of the world. .

The Canalys report did not explain Apple's experience in the European market, but spent more time discussing the Android market, especially Samsung and Xiaomi. In the second quarter, Samsung's market share increased significantly, creating the highest shipments in the past five years.

In the second quarter, Samsung topped the list with 18.3 million shipments, up 20% year-on-year, and its market share rose from 33.9% in the second quarter of 2018 to 40.6% in the second quarter of 2019. Canalys attributes this to the shift in Samsung's product strategy, from focusing on operating profit to regaining market share.

Huawei is also ahead of Apple, but its shipments fell 16% to 8.5 million, and its market share dropped from 22.4% to 18.8%. Although Xiaomi still lags behind Apple, its annual sales volume has increased by 48% to 4.3 million units, and its market share has increased from 6.5% to 9.6%. (small)<#comment>
