Microsoft's Edge browser currently accounts for 5.80% of the market, which is actually down from 6.03% last month. However, the data here only covers the built-inWindows10 browsers, not including the Chromium version currently being developed.
Obviously, Microsoft Edge currently has no chance to compete with Chrome, but it is hoped that the upcoming Chromium-based alternative will be more successful. Microsoft is developing a new version of Edge based on the same engine as Google Chrome, so both competitors will now develop new features for the same core, which will eventually be implemented in both browsers.
As a full-featured replacement for Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge is available not only to Windows 10 users, but also to users running older versions of Windows and even macOS. The Chromium engine also supports Linux, but so far, Microsoft has not confirmed that the Linux version of its browser is under development.
