On the 23rd, it was announced that Huawei would open source its GaussDB database at the ongoing Kuipeng Computing Industry Forum.

The GaussDB database was released globally by Huawei in Beijing on May 15 this year. It is known as the first AI-Native database in the world.

According to Huawei, GaussDB has two revolutionary breakthroughs:

  • For the first time, AI technology is integrated into the whole life cycle of distributed database to realize self-operation and maintenance, self-management, self-tuning, fault self-diagnosis and self-healing. In the trading, analysis and mixed load scenario, based on the optimization theory, the self-tuning algorithm based on deep reinforcement learning is pioneered, and the tuning performance is improved by more than 60% compared with the industry.
  • By using heterogeneous computing innovation framework, we can make full use of various computing advantages. On the authoritative standard test set TPC-DS, the performance of TPC-DS is 50% higher than that of the industry.

The GaussDB kernel is also considered to have extreme performance beyond existing open source databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL.

Although the news came out, the project has not yet been open source. What will happen to the further development of the event? OSCHINA will follow up the report.
