Qin Fei, general manager of vivo communication research institute, recently stated in an interview with Sina Technology that NSA single mode 5GMobile phoneIt will be used normally in the next year or even in the next ten years. From the experience of 5G network and 5G applications, there will be no difference.
Why is there a difference between NSA and SA?
The NSA means a non-independent networking, and the SA is an independent networking. In the NSA networking mode, the operator uses the 4G and 5G shared core networks to carry out 4G and 5G convergence networking, while the SA is 5G independent networking.
In December 2013, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued 4G licenses to the three major operators, and China entered the 4G era. This is only less than six years from the issuance of the 5G license in June this year. Some analysts said that the hundreds of billions of investments in the construction of 4G base stations by the three major operators have not been recovered.
In the early stage of 5G development, if the SA independent networking mode is adopted completely, the financial pressure of the three major operators in the construction of 5G base stations can be imagined. Under the demand of users and industry for 5G, operators have developed a route for SA and NSA and SA hybrid networking.
As for mobile phone manufacturers, the current Qualcomm X50 baseband chip only supports the NSA mode, while the Qualcomm X55 that supports the NSA/SA dual mode has not yet been commercialized.
In fact, in the United States, Europe, South Korea and other countries that have already carried out 5G commercial use, the NSA network is the first route. The 5G mobile phone products are mostly based on Qualcomm's X50 baseband chips. South Korea has developed more than 1.4 million 5G users in more than three months, using NSA single-mode mobile phones.
In Qin Fei's view, in the early stage of 5G commercial use, NSA networking and NSA mobile phones can play an important role in the laying of 5G networks and the accumulation of 5G users. This is also crucial for cultivating 5G application scenarios. "This year, if you want 5G to land, you will have 5G mobile phones first, otherwise no one will be willing to develop applications." He said that from this idea, there should be chickens and eggs. There will be applications for mobile phones first.
NSA phones will still work in the next decade
During this year's Shanghai MWC,China MobileChairman Yang Jie said at the meeting that from January 1 next year, China will not allow NSA mobile phones to enter the network. andHuaweiConsumer business Yu Chengdong also publicly stated that he hopes that his peers can provide true 5G mobile phones. "NSA will soon be eliminated, SA is true 5G."
This has sparked a real 5G dispute between the media and consumers. Some consumers even believe that this year's purchase of the NSA single-mode 5G mobile phone will not be used again next year.
In fact, Yang Jie mentioned the 5G mobile phone network access, referring to the telecommunications equipment network license issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for 5G terminals. A few days ago,OPPO, vivo has announced that Reno 5G version and iQOO 5G version have obtained the network access license, and even have "three certificates complete", passed the pre-market threshold. Therefore, if consumers purchase these 5G mobile phones this year, there will be no problem of being banned from entering the Internet next year.
Qin Fei said that by the end of this year, China is likely to build the world's largest NSA 5G network, and NSA mobile phone users will also form a certain scale. He expects China's 5G sales to reach millions or even tens of millions this year. "Although SA is a mature networking method in the future, the SA network needs to be gradual from the establishment to the real maturity, and it will take a long time. The current large-scale NSA solution will continue to be used and will not be abandoned. ”
In fact, the three major operators have also expressed their position, requiring NSA+SA to support both base stations and terminals. Therefore, Qin Fei said that all NSA single-mode 5G mobile phones launched this year will be used normally in the next year or even in the next ten years.
So, will the NSA single-mode mobile phone be different from the NSA/SA dual-mode mobile phone in terms of network speed and standby experience?
In Qin Fei's view, there is no difference at all. The NSA networking also implements the eMBB scenario (high rate), while the SA is outside the eMBB scenario and also supports URLLC (low latency) and mMTC (large connectivity), which is more suitable for vertical industry applications; One coverage in the early stage is not so completebeautifulSA phones are not even better than NSA phones when they are in standby mode, and the power consumption will be higher.
He also revealed that vivo's first 5G mobile phone iQOO 5G version will be available in China in August, and this year will not only release a 5G mobile phone. “Whether it’s the price or the volume, it’s a surprise,” he said.
