Three and a half years ago, Microsoft Azure cloud service CTO Mark Russinovich said that a quarter of the instances run Linux; in 2017, that proportion rose to two-fifths; in 2018, Scott Guthrie, Vice President of Microsoft Cloud and Enterprise Group Business, revealed that 50% of Azure virtual machines run Linux.
Now MicrosoftDiscloseLinux usage has surpassed Windows. This result is certainly not surprising. Guthrie admitted last year that Linux usage is increasing every month, and even Azure's native services are running on Linux. For example, Azure's Software Defined Network (SDN) is based on Linux. Even Steve Ballmer said he loved Linux.
