Participants pledged that by 2026, Korean manufacturers will have a 20% share of the global 5G network equipment market. As for the 5G smartphone market, Samsung and LG have vowed to ensure that they rank first by occupying 30% of the global market.

On the occasion of the conference, the 5G network in Korea has attracted more and more attention since the commencement of commercial services in April. Although its users exceeded 1 million here last month, the Korean industry is still considering how to use the technology to promote industrial growth.
Participants pledged that by 2026, exports from 5G-related industries in Korea would reach 73 billion won ($62.1 million). To achieve this goal, they will generate 180 trillion won of industrial output related to 5G business.
Participants also presented 10 key industries and 5 key services. These include technologies related to virtual reality and augmented reality.
Kim Tae-yoo, a professor at Seoul National University, called for deregulation to make the plan work.
Business leaders attending the event included executives of SK Telecom, Korea Telecom, LG Uplus and Roh Tae-Moon, senior executives of Samsung's electronics and mobile division.
In the global smartphone market, only Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are the most influential manufacturers in the world. It is worth mentioning that the target of 5G smartphones, which are proposed by the two companies, is a relatively pragmatic goal.
According to the first quarter global smartphone market report of IDC, an American Market Research company, Samsung Electronics ranked first in the world in the quarter, gaining 29.47% share, leading Huawei in the second place and more than twice as much as Apple in the third place.
In other words, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics currently account for more than 30% of the global smartphone share, and the two companies hope to continue to maintain this share in the 5G mobile field.
