After the issuance of 5G licenses by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China Mobile has been moving frequently. In recent days, it has issued three 5G orders in succession. The purchasing scope includes core network, wireless engineering and terminals, thus speeding up the deployment of 5G network in an all-round way.
At present, although China Mobile is still in the leading position among the three major operators, the efforts of China Telecom and China Unicom in recent two years have also brought it closer to China Mobile. This time, China Mobile took the lead in building a 5G network, seizing the advantage of the 5G era, which is conducive to quickening the pace of 5G commerce in the future.
According to the purchasing and bidding network of China Mobile, 450 sets of MME equipments in the current network need to be upgraded to support dual connection, load migration, traffic reporting and security functions, 681 sets of SAE-GW equipments in the current network need to support traffic reporting functions, and the existing EPC core network SAE-GW equipments need to be compensated for traffic processing hardware.
On June 6, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued 5G commercial licenses to China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom and China Radio and Television, and 5G officially began to land in China. China Mobile said it planned to provide 5G services in more than 40 cities by the end of September this year.
