Samsung said in an e-mail statement Sunday that its de facto leader, Li Zairong, last week discussed with Samsung executives potential cooperation with platform companies in 6G mobile networks, block chain technology and artificial intelligence.
This is Li's first public discussion of the potential of 6G technology, because Samsung and including Apple Inc.HUAWEICompetitors, including Technologies Limited, are competing to commercialize 5G-based services, which were launched in Korea in April.
"We should challenge ourselves to build new foundations and surpass our past achievements," Li said in a statement.
According to the statement, in addition to guidance on the system semiconductor investment plan, executives reviewed Samsung's chip business risk response plan and discussed the challenges posed by structural changes in the technology industry.
