Sina Technology News, April 18 morning news, Strategy Analytics released the latest research report "5G Smartphone: From Zero to Billions" pointed out that in 2019, global smartphone shipments will reach 5 million. Early 5G smartphones were expensive and limited in number. Samsung, LG and Huawei will be the leaders of 5G smartphones this year, and Apple will join the camp next year.
According to Ken Hyers, Director of Strategy Analytics, “Strategy Analytics estimates that global 5G smartphone shipments will reach 5 million units by 2019. Due to costly equipment pricing, component bottlenecks and limited availability of 5G networks, global shipments of 5G smartphones are currently small —— this year will account for less than 1% of global smartphone shipments. ”
Strategy Analytics senior analyst Ville Petteri-Ukonaho added, “Samsung is the first to launch 5G smartphones in Korea and the US, so Samsung will be the leader of the early 5G smartphones in the first half of 2019. We expect LG, Huawei, Xiaomi, Motorola and other companies to launch later this year, while the Apple iPhone will launch its first 5G model in the second half of 2020. In the 5G smartphone competition, the iPhone is behind Samsung for at least a year, and Apple must be careful not to be left too far. ”
Neil Mawston, Executive Director of Strategy Analytics added: “The short-term prospects for 5G smartphones are not good, but the long-term opportunities are still huge. Strategy Analytics estimates that by 2025, global 5G smartphone shipments will reach 1 billion units per year. The 5G network launched by operators such as Verizon or China Mobile has opened up high-speed, ultra-low latency services such as 8K video, streaming games and augmented reality for businesses. The next big question for the mobile industry is how many additional consumers are really willing to pay for those emerging 5G smartphones and services. ”
