After the failure of Helio X30, MediaTek has also focused on low-end processors in recent years. At present, the highest-end product, Helio P90, is only a 12-nm process. Its performance, technology and architecture are not as good as those of Qualcomm, Hess and Samsung processors. However, the dream of entering the high-end market is not lost. This year, there will be many 7Nm process chips, of which 7Nm 5G processor is expected to be completed within this year, and will hit the high-end market again in 2020.

MediaTek's main processors these two years are the midrange Helio P60/P70 and the low-end Helio A22, the latest processor is the Helio P90, the CPU architecture upgrade to the Cortex A75 × 2 Cortex A55 × 6 design, abandoned the ARM public version of GPU Mali G72, replaced by Imagination's IMG 9XM P8, It is said that performance has increased by 50%.

For AI, Helio P90 integrates more high-frequency AI acceleration processing units, with three times the performance of previous generation P60 and twice the performance of Miaolong 710. NowcellphoneBasically, it is used to speed up image processing, and Helio P90 is no exception. The Joint Transport Section will realize automatic optimization of exposure, real-time image/video effect enhancement, face recognition, intelligent noise reduction and so on.

However, the Helio P90 is still not a high-end processor, the process technology or 12nm, the A75 A55 architecture is not the most advanced, and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 710 positioning is similar, the process and architecture is not as good.

The reason why MIDK is not the most advanced technology is that it has no money and no market. The failure of X30 processor with 10nm technology has a great impact on MIDK. However, at present 5G, MIDK is not strong enough. Last year, the company released the M70 5G baseband, which is manufactured using the 7Nm technology of TSMC. The speed can reach 5Gbps and supports the 3GPP Releas 15 specification. It is expected to be shipped in the second half of this year.

MediaTek will also introduce special chips with 7-nm process. Last April, it launched 56G PAM4 SerDes high-speed cascade chip with 7-nm process. It is expected that the design of the chip will be completed within this year, and it will be used in Cisco's enterprise products in the future.

In addition to dedicated chips and baseband, MediaTek will also introduce a truly high-end 7Nm 5G processor with 5G baseband function. Last year, MediaTek has gone out of style. Although the details of this 5G chip are still unknown, CPU architecture is expected to upgrade to Cortex-A76 and GPU performance will be greatly upgraded. Even if it can not completely compete with Qualcomm's Dragon 855, it will not impact the high-end market. Run away.

However, the 5G handset processor is expected to be designed and streamed in Q3 this year, and commercial production will be possible in 2020.
