Titanium media reported on March 18 that Jia Yangqing, a former Chinese Facebook scientist, has officially joined Alibaba as vice president of technology and led the research and development of big data computing platform.
Jia Yangqing holds a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in information technology automation from Tsinghua University and a doctorate in computer science from the University of California, Berkeley. During his Ph.D. study, Jia Yang-qing created and opened up the deep learning framework Caffe, which was adopted by Microsoft, Yahoo, Yingweida, Adobe and other companies. As a researcher of Caffe, Jia Yangqing is well known in the industry for sharing this achievement with the world.
Before joining Ali, Jia Yangqing served as engineering director on Facebook, responsible for the architecture of large-scale AI platforms.
