The only thing Apple Music users need is to open Shazam and identify a song during the awards ceremony. Previously, Apple Music customers could only get a free trial for up to three months.
People who use Shazam during the Grammy Awards Ceremony will also receive a "custom Grammy Award Experience", which includes the timeline of all the music in the program and highlights it in real time when the song is played.
Earlier this month, Apple used outdoor billboards in Los Angeles to promote Memoji stars, including Ariana Grande, Kacey Musgraves and Shawn Mendes. On Friday, Apple shared three Karaoke-style ads featuring Animoji, sung by singers Ariana Grande, Khalid and Florida Georgia Line.
Apple announced its acquisition of Shazam in December 2017. The company has never disclosed details of the acquisition, but people familiar with the matter said the total price of the acquisition was about $400 million.
