On the afternoon of December 20th, according to Taiwan media iThome.com.tw, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) issued an internal notice on the 18th of this month, stating that on October 23 this year, they found that hackers invaded NASA. For servers that store employee data, NASA employee information may have been compromised between 2006 and 2018. The internal notification letter was also made public in the media before the incident was exposed.
According to a preliminary investigation by NASA, one of the hacked servers stored employee social security codes and other personally identifiable data, which was affected by NASA Civil Service employees, as long as it was from July to 20, 2006. Employees who took office, worked or resigned in October were affected.
After discovering the accident, NASA immediately took steps to protect servers and data, and joined forces with federal cybersecurity experts to investigate, and is still assessing the size of data breaches, and there is no exact data.
However, NASA only stressed that NASA's mission has not been affected by this hacking behavior.
