In response to these challenges, from the design of the coverage plan to the final completion, ZTE cooperated with Guangdong Mobile Zhuhai Branch (hereinafter referred to as “Zhuhai Mobile”) for 43 months to provide customized wireless for the world's longest cross-sea bridge. Network coverage integrated solution.

Long-term argument, once construction, once met the standard

After the opening of the bridge for half a month, C114 recently went to Zhuhai to interview ZTE, and the construction difficulties and challenges learned were beyond our imagination.

“In the 43 months from the start of the project to the implementation of the construction in 2015, the final project construction and completion was actually completed in about 3 months. What did we do in such a long period of time? That is A large number of program arguments.” ZTE, deputy general manager of wireless product operation in ZTE China market, said that ZTE has carried out a large number of simulations and verifications for the coverage of blind areas and dead angles caused by the demand for ultra-long coverage and special arches.

"The bridge engineering bureau and operators have put forward such a request - because the construction of the bridge is not possible to reserve more time and space for the construction of the communication system, (communication network construction) must be completed once and once."

To this end, ZTE chose a section in Zhuhai, including the distance and even the arc and crown of the road to be as close as possible to the bridge scene, and then innovatively loaded the RRU with the crane on the land to the same height in the actual scene. In order to carry out field simulation tests on such special sections of the bridge. Such a scheme verification is very effective, and the huge manpower and energy invested in it need not be said.

It is precisely because of such a large number of refined simulation and simulation work that ZTE spent a lot of time in the solution determination phase. Also because of this work, after the completion of the entire network coverage project construction, it is possible to reduce the optimization work and achieve construction expectations.

Faced with many restrictions, customized to meet special scenarios

Founder admits that the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is a very separate individual. Unlike ordinary bridges, especially in the case of public concern about environmental protection and overall image, there are many restrictions on the layout of wireless base stations. This is the selection of ZTE equipment. And the biggest problem encountered in the program determination.

In the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge project, all the locations where the base stations and antennas can be installed are at the gantry of the bridge. The coverage of the gantry is based on the design of the original bridge, not based on communication coverage. He said, "The distance between the two gantry with the largest spacing is 3 kilometers. Considering the special condition of the bridge, including the tortuosity and even some sections are arched, it is more difficult to achieve full coverage. For this, we passed A lot of work has been done on the selection of frequency bands, equipment selection, and special technologies, including soft power boosting, to achieve enhanced coverage technology."

For example, the location of the bridge can be set very small. In view of the linear coverage of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, ZTE and Zhuhai Mobile will set up the engine room on the Zhuhai-Macau artificial island and the west artificial island on both sides of the bridge. According to reports, at present, the domestic ordinary network construction fiber is generally within 10 km, and it is necessary to cover 22 km of bridge deck area through two computer rooms, which means that the fiber length is about 15-16 km. ZTE specializes in thisDevelopmentA 20 km fiber optic remote version meets engineering needs. At the same time, considering the space and the future 5G network construction, the bridge core resources and other issues, ZTE has adopted a single-core two-way solution, saving 75% of the core resources.

What has to be mentioned is the impact of harsh natural conditions such as typhoons on the bridge deck equipment. On the eve of the opening, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has just experienced a 16-level typhoon attack. It turns out that not only the bridge, but also the communication base station and other equipment on the bridge have withstood the test of the super typhoon. It is reported that. For extreme weather such as typhoon, ZTE has custom-developed reinforced installation parts. All the installation parts are treated with special materials, which can resist the high humidity and salinity corrosion of the sea area and ensure the safety of equipment.

Focus on 5G IoT and edge computing capabilities are in place

According to ZTE, on the first day of opening, the number of peak 4G network users of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge exceeded 5,000, the wireless connection rate exceeded 99.6%, and the VoLTE connection rate exceeded 99.7%. The on-site VoLTE users perceive good. Whether in the bridge steel frame structure bridge or in the 6.75-kilometer submarine tunnel, the mobile 4G download rate reaches 50Mbps or higher and the upload rate reaches 18Mbps.

In the interview, we learned that the bridge coverage provided by ZTE can not only meet the existing 4G network coverage requirements, but also take into account the smooth evolution of the future 5G. In terms of equipment selection, ZTE adopts TDDLTE multi-mode RRU and FDD LTE high-power RRU, which can meet various system network coverage, and at the same time take into account the significant increase in capacity brought by the development of eMBB. According to reports, ZTE's solution adopts 5G-ready Cloud RAN solution, supports GSM/FDD/NB/TDD multi-mode multi-frequency network combined deployment, and adopts MEC and CU in architecture.serverWay, pre-buried 5G capability.

"Considering the requirements of future evolution, we have put forward an important concept in the networking mode with Zhuhai Mobile, that is, the Wisdom Bridge. At present, the bridge has the ability to access the Internet of Things, and we have also deployed based on the bridge. Edge computing servers to meet future 5G network architecture and edge computing business forms.” Founder pointed out that in a relatively small scenario such as the bridge, it can be combined with IoT applications and other projects, including travel and near-end push Wait, these have business prospects.

He introduced that in the aspect of the Internet of Things, in addition to the monitoring and business arrangement of the past vehicles, the application of the Internet of Things based on the bridge itself is also very much. For example, the safety inspection of the bridge was previously a manual and periodic inspection method. Now, it can realize the function of regular periodic automatic inspection or alarm through the arrangement of sensors and the access of NB-IoT service. It can be seen that operators are very concerned about “improving user perception” and “self-request”. "From the perspective of wireless communication coverage, China's advanced technology and requirements for technology use may be the highest in the world. The latest and most advanced technologies will certainly be applied first in China." Founder said.

Air show relay to demonstrate important project support capabilities

Shortly after the opening of the bridge, Zhuhai ushered in a major biennial event - the 12th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition.

Airshow and bridge communication coverage are naturally two different scenarios. Liu Shihong, director of the mobile wireless project group of ZTE Guangzhou Branch, told us that the number of exhibitors at Zhuhai Air Show this year is expected to reach 500,000. This ultra-dense large-scale service access scenario brings challenges and difficulties in many aspects such as strong mobility, tidal effects, and interference. He analyzed that compared to two years ago, the user habits of today have changed a lot, live and release on the spot.videoThe number of viewers has increased significantly, which has led to a significant increase in demand for upstream traffic, and the difficulty of network protection has surpassed the past.

Taking the tidal effect as an example, when the plane takes off, the crowd will be concentrated in a certain place, which causes the network capacity demand in a certain area to rise sharply in a short time, and this situation is not fixed. To this end, ZTE has deployed technologies such as load balancing, automatic optimization, and algorithm adjustment to impose restrictions on certain users who occupy large network resources and have a long time. "When the number of users in a certain area exceeds a certain number, we will automatically switch the user voice to the GSM network instead of VoLTE access, which can greatly release the upstream bandwidth and increase the Internet access rate." Liu Shihong said .

At the same time, ZTE also deployed 3D MIMO products using 5G technology on the spot. The biggest feature of this device is that it can achieve 3-6 times more access than normal frequency, so it can improve the live user experience very well. Coverage and tracking.

In terms of emergency communication support, Zhuhai Mobile is equipped with 6 emergency vehicles, which are pre-opened and optimized to respond to stadium emergencies. At the same time, a visual back-end guarantee is built to see the traffic and signal changes of each local location in real time. .

Liu Shihong told us with pride that the network connection rate of the site reached 99.99% through the monitoring of the use of the network of exhibitors in the previous two days. "On the day of the opening ceremony, we deployed 5G equipment and opened the route, and the data transmission rate reached 1.5-1.6Gbps. We are proud to be a communicator by supporting the protection of these large projects."
