But Intel points out that the goal of E-2100 is to increase productivity and security. One of the key differences is the support for software protection extensions (SGX).

The security zone allows full encryption of data in memory and across-bus transmission to prevent malware from making any observations outside.

In view of the fact that enterprises always upgrade every few years, Intel claims:The Zhiqiang E-2100 is 50% higher than the product four years ago (39% higher than the previous generation design), and supports 128GB DDR4 2666 memory (capacity doubled).

Users need to upgrade their motherboard UEFI BIOS in order to gain additional memory support when the new products of the Zhiqiang E series come on the market in the first quarter of 2019.

Intel said,The XXX E series is mainly for single CPU slot motherboards, with a maximum of 6 cores / 12 threads. With the help of Turbo Boost 2, the core frequency can reach 4.7GHz.

As for the next generation of Cascade Lake AP processors, they are designed to run extremely demanding workloads. It supports dual processor platform, the single slot has the highest 48 cores, and supports 12 sets of DDR4 memory channels.

In Linpack floating-point benchmark tests, Cascade Lake AP processors are said to perform three times as well as AMD Epyc 7601.

Although this is the result of Intel's careful selection, it does give convincing reasons to attract at least some users to upgrade to the new platform.

However, Intel's own top Scalable 8180 platform is the comparison object that we all pay more attention to.Official data show that Cascade Lake AP is leading 21%.

In terms of in-depth learning, Intel claims that the new product is more than 17 times the Xeon Platinum processor.

Finally, in high performance computing (HPC), storage components are also a clear short board.

To overcome this, both the Zhiqiang E-series and the Casade Lake AP have added support for Optane DC.

In August of this year, Intel shipped a storage module that could be placed in DIMM memory slot. The capacity varies from 128GB to 256GB to 512GB.

Although the speed is still not comparable to DRAM dynamic random access memory, Optane DC can significantly improve the overall performance of the system, especially in specific scenarios.

Apache Cassandra benchmarking,Optane DC is 11 times more powerful than DRAM and NVME SSD systems.

Even with the continuous storage of 2.6TB, Optane can increase the Spark SQL benchmark by 8 times.

Intel to Qiangqiang E-2100 will be on the market from now on, while Cascade Lake AP will arrive in the first half of 2019.
