In July 2018, after collecting evidence, Baidu filed a lawsuit against Sogou in the Haidian court, demanding that Sogou immediately stop unfair competition and publish it on the homepage (www.sogou.com)'s prominent location and important media platform for 30 consecutive days. Declare, eliminate the impact, and at the same time demand compensation for various economic losses totaling 5 million yuan.

After many requests from Baidu, Sogou did not stop unfair competition, which would cause irreparable damage to the legitimate rights and interests of Baidu. Baidu therefore filed an application for a behavioral preservation ban with the court and asked the court to order Sogou to immediately stop unfair competition.

If the Internet user clicks on any of the drop-down prompts, they will be ignorant. In the state, it is automatically jumped and switched to the relevant search results page of Sogou.

In this regard, Baidu believes that Sogou’s violation of fair, honest and trustworthy business ethics has seriously interfered with the normal use of Baidu search by netizens and infringed on Baidu’s rights and interests, and therefore brought it to court.

In 2015, Haidian Court held that the hijacking behavior of Sogou had constituted unfair competition, ordered Sogou to immediately stop the hijacking, publicly apologize on the homepage of the website, and compensate Baidu for economic losses of 500,000 yuan. Sogou refused to accept the first-instance judgment and appealed again. On May 25, 2018, the court made a final judgment and upheld the original judgment of the first instance.
