At first, Facebook shared the number of Stories users in both the main app and Messsenger - because when the user posts on Messsenger, the post content will automatically appear on Facebook Stories. In May of this year, the company said that only Facebook Stories has 150 million active users.

Facebook also announced at the event that starting today, all advertisers worldwide will be able to advertise in Stories in Facebook's main app, and the company will launch Messenger Stories in the coming weeks. Previously, Facebook first started testing Facebook Stories ads in May this year.
One of the challenges Facebook faces when selling Stries ads is that the photos and videos used for these ads need to be displayed vertically, while the most creative ad campaigns are horizontal. To make it easier for advertisers to use Stories, Facebook allows them to upload horizontal content and then convert it to full-screen format for Stories.
Liz Keneski, a researcher at Facebook Stories, said at the event: "This is to keep in touch with friends and family every day."
Facebook is also taking steps to ensure that Stories is beyond the flow of information - on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp, Stories is prominently on top of the stream to increase the likelihood that users will see and click on them.
