Tencent Technology News, July 11 According to foreign media reports, Foxconn just set up a new company in Silicon Valley, California, focusing on the development of artificial intelligence technology in the field of plants.

The introduction of the program is in the context of the global slowdown in smartphone sales, while workers are demanding higher wages and a changing labor market. Foxconn's manufacturing industry is beginning to face increasingly severe challenges. Foxconn is currently one of Apple's largest contractors and is responsible for the assembly of the iPhone and iPad.

On Friday, at an event held at Stanford University, Foxconn founder Guo Taiming and Jay Lee, a professor of industrial engineering at the University of Cincinnati, jointly announced the creation of a new company, which was named Industrial AI System.

Guo Taiming said that the new company plans to hire more than 100 engineers and artificial intelligence deep learning technology experts. At present, Foxconn has built a factory with an investment of more than 10 billion US dollars in the United States, providing hundreds of job opportunities to the local area and obtaining preferential tax exemption policies from the local government.

How many jobs Foxconn's factory in Wisconsin can provide is still uncertain, and this time, Guo Taiming hopes to increase production efficiency through automation technology, and will also have a certain impact on the number of workers in the new factory. According to a report in the Silicon Valley Business Daily, Foxconn currently has more than 1 million employees, including more than 600,000 in Taiwan.

It is reported that the activities of Stanford University are only open to 100 people, including artificial intelligence research experts, Stanford University students and technology entrepreneurs.

“The Bay Area has always been a high-tech entrepreneurial center, and it is the cradle of the best artificial intelligence and data science experts in the United States. ” Guo Taiming said at the event.

Foxconn Automation currently has 1,000 employees and divested its original Industrial Internet Solutions division last month.
