beforeMicrosoftEngineer Dave Amenta,DevelopmentDavid Golde and Microsoft MVP Rafael Rivera have teamed up to create the EarTrumpet software to offset some of the gaps in the Windows 10 audio management experience. The EarTrumpet includes the ability to individually control classic and modern applications, quickly switch between default audio devices, and even move applications between playback devices.

EarTrumpet 2.0 made its debut today, and the team added multi-channel peak monitoring, keyboard shortcuts, and support for Windows 10 light and dark mode. The entire application can replace the system tray sound icon (you can disable the default settings in the settings of Windows 10) and manage all the audio settings in Windows. I have been using the latest 2.0 update for the past week, and the latest features have caused me to question why Microsoft is not building it directly into Windows 10. If three talented software developers can create a free application to do this, then Microsoft's thousands of Windows engineers can find a way to improve the audio experience in Windows 10.

The latest EarTrumpet update is now available in the Microsoft storeAnd need the recently released Windows 10 April 2018 Update to work.
