Many mobile phones now have waterproof functions. Most of them are made of rubber gaskets or seals. However, this design can only ensure that there are waterproof effects when the data interface is not used. Once our data interface is used, all waterproof functions are invalid. To further complement the waterproofing properties of iPhone, Apple has developed a new sealing technology -- deformable sealed connector.
A patent for Apple's application has recently been released. It is called "the sealing parts of electronic equipment". Apple has put forward three solutions, one is to add a rubber ring at the end of the data interface, and then, when inserting the interface, it can form a tight combination with the fuselage to play a waterproof role.
The second is to set up a protruding deformable material on the Lightning metal joint. When the joint is inserted into the interface, the material can be wedged into the opening, completely blocking the gap; the third is using a conical joint, the tip is thinner, the micro end is thicker, and a certain sealing effect can be played after the insertion of the joint.
The apple said they even considered the vacuum waterproofing scheme, pumping air, producing a vacuum, making the joint more tightly connected, and having the air entering when it was not used, and then the joint could be easily taken out.
In fact, Apple has always tried in the waterproof patent. In the past few years, we have seen many examples, such as the apple also proposed that a self healing material can be used to cover the interface, the connector passes through the seal film to reach the contact point, and then the cover material is restored to the seal state. There is also a loudspeaker waterproof patent, through a "net umbrella structure", audio vibration can transfer liquid from the audio channel.
Of course, these patents are not necessarily going to come to the ground in the end, but apples are still patented, hoping to find a way to make interfaces and joints used normally in wet, dirty, and so on, which is also good for their life.
