On the morning of May 18, Beijing time, Facebook announced that its Stories platform had 150 million active users per day. Starting Thursday, Facebook will test ads on the Stories platform in the United States, Mexico, and Brazil.
These ads are video ads that are 5-15 seconds in length and users can skip ads. Facebook can automatically format the ad in the "News Feed", add a border, and add text at the bottom. Instagram Stories ads can also be extended to the Facebook Stories platform.
Facebook Product Manager Zoheb Hajiyani said in a statement: "Stories advertising brings great value to Instagram, and we believe that the Facebook platform can also bring value. It is our top priority to ensure that people who use the product have a good experience. ”
The Stories feature was launched in March of last year and competes with Snapchat Stories. Users can send series videos or pictures via Stories and they will disappear after 24 hours. Facebook’s WhatsApp also has similar features, with more than 450 million daily users. As of November last year, Instagram Stories already had 300 million daily active users, which is twice the number of Snapchat daily active users. Both Instagram Stories and Snapchat Stories have ads.
