Toyota is about to start the autopilot test at GoMentum Station

At the local time Monday, Toyota Research announced a news agreement with GoMentum Station in Concord, California. Through this agreement, the carmaker will be able to test its two-stage autopilot system at GoMentum's 5,000-acre test site.


It is understood that GoMentum's test site provides a wide range of test environments for autopilot vehicles, including bridges, tunnels, crossroads, and different types of terrain. Ryan Eustice, senior vice president of autopilot at the Toyota Institute, said in a statement that the partnership would allow them to create a diversified driving environment and to improve the car as a guardian and driver (Chauffeur) The ability to further develop their autopilot technology.

Toyota's current autopilot system Platform 2.1 has two modes: the driver's function for driving, it will provide full automatic driving, and the guardian function for the driver, only if it is absolutely necessary to be involved.
