"StarCraft II" development team on behalf of Blizzard Entertainment in this solemn declaration, "StarCraft II" API officially released! We express our appreciation and recognition of the efforts of researchers over the years to enhance AI performance through the original "StarCraft". With the StarCraft II API, we will provide researchers, players and enthusiasts with a powerful tool to use the game as a platform to further strengthen AI research. The API also opens up a sandboxed model for the community, and the use of learning AI and script AI to build new tools will benefit the entire StarCraft II and AI community.
We have also done a lot of work, so that Google DeepMind in their cloud facilities in the large-scale operation of the API. Today, we will release the results of this work, which is a fully operational Linux package, used to run in the clouds to carry out research. This is a stand-alone Linux program that has been optimized for use with the API.
We learned a lot when we worked with DeepMind on this project, and we were very excited about the fact that we could hand in the tools and hope that we could work together to create something better.
This release of the API suite contains these features:
Script AI API
Image-based AI API (Include layers)
Documentation, sample code and sample robot
Supports offline AI to AI games
1v1 ladder game video pack *
Support for Windows and Mac
Full-featured Linux API package
In addition to the initial release, the video pack will continue to be released according to the progress. Please note that the new video pack may be released after the release of the new StarCraft II version for a while because the patch may change the format of the video.
We also include some sample code and sample robots in the API package. It is important to note that these tools are the basis for the study of StarCraft II. Ultimately depends on everyone's creativity, originality and efforts to be fruitful. We are very much looking forward to the AI community in the development of these tools.
