As one of the most watched Linux distributions, Ubuntu will publish the next release soon after every new release, and yesterday we released the release code for Ubuntu 17.10, which was released in October 2017 19 days. Main mileage date:

  • June 29 - Alpha 1

  • July 27 - Alpha 2

  • August 31st - Beta 1

  • September 28th - Final Beta

  • October 19 - official version

Ubuntu 17.10 will use GNOME as the default desktop environment

Ubuntu 17.10, issued code-named Artful Aardvark, another naming cycle of the beginning, by default does not support Unity desktop. On the contrary, Ubuntu 17.10 will use GNOME as the default desktop environment (version may be GNOME 3.26, 9 months released Gnome version).
