Samsung Electronics is preparing to acquire QDVision, a US developer of quantum dot materials, according to the Korea Times. Samsung and LG and other companies are around the next generation of television competition, the acquisition will help enhance the strength of Samsung. Samsung Advanced Technology Research Institute ChungChil-hee president told reporters on Wednesday: "We decided to acquire QD Vision." Samsung did not disclose the specific purchase price, according to estimates of about 70 million US dollars (821.4 billion won).
In the past 11 years, Samsung has been the world's largest TV manufacturer. Samsung hopes to use quantum dot TV to firmly control the high-end market.
