NASA (NASA)announce

NASA's initials are the first A to represent the aerospace, and a 10 year new vision plan is to show people the importance of this field for NASA. NASA hope that through a series of research and R & D investment, to find a new technology that can promote the progress of the field of commercial aviation.

The plan is the first contract in February by a team at Lockheed Martin, contract value of $20 million, a frame less noise supersonic aircraft design. In 17 months time, the team must complete the preliminary design of the bass detonation supersonic technology (QueSST).

For more than 100 years, NASA and its predecessor NACA (National Aviation Advisory Committee) has been using experimental aircraft to promote the development of aviation technology. Relying on government funds, the agency not only reduced the burden on the Private Companies's aviation research and development, but also shorten the time of the new technology commercialization of aviation.

Supersonic aircraft for the experiment was originally called XS, and later referred to as X, and X aircraft is actually a series of verification machine manufactured only for the purpose of the study. NASA developed more than 56 validation machine concepts, which represent some of the top results of the NASA in the field of aviation research.

One of the most historic verification machines isX-1

But perhaps the most famous is the verification of confidentialX-15 jetNone. X-15 was born in 1950s, then became the fastest flying highest wing aircraft. In nearly 200 flights, X-15 collected a lot of valuable data about the high-altitude hypersonic flight.

NASA will use the new aviation vision program, to bring people a new generation of verification machine. This time, the focus is to promote the development of Green Aviation technology. In the next 10 years or so, QueSST and other to be developed and validated machine data will be collected, these data will help commercial aircraft noise reduction, fly faster, the use of cleaner fuels and more energy-saving.
